GTDS is pleased to offer a VLF cable testing service to our customers using the latest test equipment available from a world leading supplier. The company has the ability to test MV cable systems up to 33kV with cable lengths in the region of 7.5 km.

Several decades of academic research and utility experience have shown that DC testing of MV and HV power cables can be detrimental to the life of the cable. The more modern approach is to adopt Very Low Frequency (VLF) cable testing techniques which enable the use of lower power equipment to provide tests previously only available through the use of large and expensive HV AC test sets.
